What is the Interactive Coordinate Plotter?

The Interactive Coordinate Plotter is a zero-friction, browser-based mathematical plotting canvas that combines the tactile precision of traditional 1 cm / 1 mm laboratory green graph paper with the computational power of a digital graphing calculator. It is engineered for students, educators, physics laboratory researchers, and STEM engineers who need to quickly visualize discrete data points, plot functions, measure slopes, and calculate definite integrals without software downloads or subscriptions.

Unlike desktop software that requires installation and signups, our plotter runs 100% client-side in your web browser. All data points, mathematical functions, regressions, and vector sketches stay securely on your computer, ensuring complete data privacy and instant responsiveness.

Graph Paper Styles & Grid Types

Laboratory Green Graph Paper

The authentic green grid used in university physics and chemistry labs. Standard 1 cm major grid boxes with 1 mm minor subdivisions for accurate slope and measurement calculations.

Cartesian XY Plane

High-contrast black-and-white grid with centered X and Y axes, four quadrants, and numerical tick marks for algebra, geometry, and calculus visualization.

Polar Coordinate Grid

Concentric radial circles and 15-degree ray lines for vectors, angular velocity, navigation, acoustics, and complex number plotting.

Logarithmic (Semi-Log & Log-Log)

Engineering paper with logarithmic decadic scales on one or both axes, ideal for exponential growth, acoustic frequency response, and Bode plots.

Coordinate Plotting & Point Snapping

Plot individual (x,y) points by clicking directly on the canvas or entering exact values in the Point Input form. The magnetic snap engine automatically locks points to the nearest 1 mm grid intersection, ensuring classroom-grade precision. Connect points using straight lines, multi-segment polylines, or smooth Catmull-Rom interpolation splines.

Bulk-uploading datasets is simple: use the Import CSV button to load hundreds of data pairs at once. The live statistics HUD immediately computes minimum, maximum, mean values, and linear regression slope ($y = mx + b$).

Mathematical Function Parser

The built-in expression engine parses and renders mathematical curves across polynomials, trigonometric functions (sin(x), cos(x), tan(x)), exponentials (e^x), logarithms (log(x), ln(x)), and square roots. A virtual on-screen math keyboard is included for mobile and tablet users.

Definite Integral & Area Under Curve

Select any plotted curve or equation, specify integration bounds [a, b], and calculate the shaded definite integral $\int_a^b f(x)\,dx$ using composite trapezoidal numerical quadrature. The area is visually shaded on the paper with real-time numerical readout.

Constant 1 cm Box Scale & Custom Axis Titles

In laboratory physics and mathematics, the physical size of graph paper squares (1 cm = 50px at 1.0 zoom) must remain constant while students assign customized values per box (e.g., 1 box = 5 seconds on X, 1 box = 20 meters on Y).

Under Section 3: Scale & Grid Rules, you can configure:

  • Scale Presets: Choose 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, or 100 units per 1 cm box.
  • Custom Values: Set independent scaling for X and Y with linked or independent aspect ratios.
  • Axis Titles & Units: Display custom labels like Time (s) and Velocity (m/s) at the axis arrow ends.
  • Graph View Lock: Lock pan and zoom in place (shortcut: L) so you never accidentally move the coordinate frame while drawing or plotting.
  • Full Screen Graph Mode: Minimize the left toolkit (shortcut: F) to expand the graph canvas to 100% of your screen width.
